Recognize the Day has a Purpose

Did you know that God's mercy toward us has no expiration date? The beautiful truth about today is that it reminds us that God’s love, compassion, and mercy are new every day.

Whether you have had a good day, a good week, a bad day, or a bad week, each day you wake up has a purpose.

In this blog, I want to share three truths you can cling to daily. To do that, we are going to look at Lamentations 3:22-23 which says,

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

The first truth that you can cling to today is God’s love. At the time of Jeremiah’s writings, Israel was experiencing judgment and punishment for their disobedience. The Hebrew term for “great love” in Lamentations 3:22 is used 250 times in the Old Testament. That is more than enough time to be reminded of how his grace, forgiveness, compassion, and love are known every day.

The second truth you can cling to today is God’s mercy. God’s mercy reminds us of His tender love, grace, and pity for His children. While God may let us go through punishment as a reminder of the seriousness of sin, He still pities His suffering children. God’s mercies are new every morning.

Finally, the third truth you can cling to today is God’s forgiveness. If God’s mercy is new every day, then we have the truth that God’s forgiveness is new every day. We sin daily and fall short of God’s glory. But it’s God’s great love and kindheartedness that reminds us that Jesus sacrificed Himself on the cross so we may be forgiven.

Every day you wake up reminds you of God’s purpose for you. He has something for you each day. When you wake up, remember that the breath in your lungs, the sun on your face, or the rain hitting the ground helping the earth grow remind us that God’s great mercies are new every day. Sometimes, God reminds us of His mercies in ways we do not understand, but that doesn’t mean they are not there.
