Pursue Godliness

1 Timothy 6:11 says:

But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

Last week, we talked about pursuing righteousness. The second word we will pursue in 2025 is "Godliness." But what exactly is godliness?

In this verse, godliness means "piety, religion, and devotion." In this context, Paul encourages Timothy to flee sin and pursue the following six words.

Pursuing godliness means, you are pursuing a right living towards God. It means you are pursuing a devoted life to God's ways. Is your life characterized by living obediently and fruitfully towards God?

How does this look in your life?

It means turning away from the things that are not of God. Letting go of sins, fleeing temptation, and leaving behind a life of disobedience. What is in your life that keeps you from the character of God?

A devoted life to God means you no longer want to follow the world's ways. It means you walk in faith, and your actions show your dependence on God.

Examine your life today and ask if you are pursuing godliness. Are you seeking a life that is obedient to God and faithful to Him?
