Live Sent
It is finally 2025.
A new year brings new opportunities. What opportunities are you looking to expound on this year? What are your goals for this new year?
Let’s start with the purpose of your life. Yes, your life has a purpose, especially when you have given your life to God. David writes in Psalm 138:8 (NIV) The Lord will vindicate me; your love, Lord, endures forever— do not abandon the works of your hands. This verse is a declaration from David. It was David’s way of declaring that God had great plans for his life. David knew that the Lord’s plans endure forever, and God would not abandon those plans.
As you begin this new year, make a declaration about your life. Have confidence, knowing that if you trust the Lord, He will have great plans for you. You must surrender to God and declare that you are abiding in Him. Then, you wait for His plans for your life to be fulfilled. As you wait, you continue to pursue God. Pursue God by getting closer to Him each day. Be in prayer, be in His Word, and be in community with other believers. Each day should be an opportunity to delight yourself in the Lord (Psalm 37:3-5).
How do you plan your goals for 2025? You plan in God-honoring ways. Solomon understood sensible planning when he said, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverb 19:21, NIV). Solomon does not discourage human planning. But, he encourages abiding in God’s will. We plan in ways that ultimately focus on the Lord and His will because God’s plan will always come true. In 2025, you must be ready to follow God’s plan (James 4:15).
Right now, your plan for 2025 should be to “Live Sent.” What does that mean? This term has been on my mind for two years now. It is a term based on Romans 10:15 (NIV), which says, “And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Paul acknowledges that the first step in sharing the faith is being sent. Just like Paul and the disciples were sent out, or commissioned, by Jesus to share the Gospel, so are you. This new year presents new opportunities for your plans to be focused on being sent by Jesus to share the Good News.

Make a declaration today to live sent for the Gospel. Be ready for what God has in store for you. Make plans that honor God and trust that what He has in store for you is far greater than you can imagine.
